Only include new Threads and not replies in post count?

Howdy all, we have a couple of restrictions on our forum which stops members whose post count is below a certain limit from gaining access to certain areas.

This of course encourages some members to spam ridiculous replies to existing threads to increase their post count.

So I was wondering if its possible to allow only new threads to increase post counts instead of replies to threads on specific forums?

I think you should introduce two separate counters:

Posts
and
Threads

Interesting idea but I wouldnt have a clue how to code that!
