Seen and used it on PHPBB but not vB...

some sorta hack to do replies and start new threads via e-mail.

For example :

You e-mail : "portable@xxxxxxx.com" and it automatically posts the thread in your "portables electronics section" with the post title being the subject of the e-mail.

there was a hack to reply thread by email. do a search on that

Yeah, it was for 3.0 and it never really worked...
