How Do I Add A Member Editable Text Box?

I would like to provide my members a text field box that allows them to list items they have available that they can edit at any time. I tried going through with this as a User Profile Field but I really want to be able to access this via its own page...I dont want it to show up in the USER CP area.

Also I would like to be able to create a page that will list the members that have filled out this field and make that a clickable link to take you to that members list.

Any ideas on how to go about doing this?
