how do i issue a warning pertaining to a post?

im not figuring out how to issue a warning that has to do with a post. please explain.

ok ive re-entered the postbit and postbit_legacy template cuz i didnt understand the instructions @ first when i first did the install of that and there is no icon showing on threads. i guess what im told that is how i warn users on posts is by clicking the warn sign on the thread im warning them on...well i dont have one of those icons anywhere...any ideas please
