Allowing user header and footer for posts?

I created fields so that they can insert the code for the header and footer for their posts and entered it into the postbit like this:

<div>$post[field7]$post[message]$post[field8]</div>

but it shows the VB code instead of processing it. Show it shows the color codes or other text that they want at the beginning and end of their posts. How do I get it so that it processes it and will allow vbcode to work?
