Auto-reply in "introduce yourself" forum?
Is there a mod that someone has created that would auto reply in forumid=X?
I have an introduce yourself forum and the replies in there are basically the same. "Welcome! If you need help with xxx, try the xxx forum. If you need help with yyy, try posting in the yyy forum. For help moving around the site, please read this page: FAQ. Again, welcome to our site!" Or even as simple as "Welcome! We are glad you registered!" Or a random greetings (maybe 2 or 3) to disguise they are from an automated process. it would really help out to have an automated process in place. Our "introduce yourself" forum is really a way to get new registrants to post their first message and learn how to post. We have so many newbies on our site its helpful to teach them. But they expect replies (and we want to welcome them!) but our staff is growing weary. |

Kathy, here's a sneaky way to do it with no hack needed.
Write a conditional. If forum=x and postcount=1. Wrap the conditional around a second copy of your postbit with the username and message hard-coded in the template. Put this whole thing at the bottom of your postbit template. Then, when that first post is made in that forum, it will LOOK like a second post is immediately made in reply. That reply could have all the necessary info. Amy |
