Is there a way to set it up so the link opens in a new window?

Yes there is but I wouldn't suggest you doing so. The reason for not doing it is because it is very annoying when additional windows pop up. If a person wants to open a new window, he can always click that link while holding SHIFT. But most likely, no person would be thankful to a site admin if all links would pop up in new windows.
