datastore and template caching
HowdA plp,
Was just combingo through some 3.5 code to see how I would start porting some items over and it occured to me... If the datastore holds the hooks... how in the hell do you get your datastore and templates to precache? In other words, right now you add the datastore rows and template names to $specialtemplates, etc... Then they get pulled all in one go. How are you supposed to say 'hey there, include me too! when you do a datastore run' without hacking a file? Am I missing something painfully obvious er. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? DAMN THE AUTOMERGE! How can any sane man bump his own thread?!? Blasted! FOild again by the god forsaken automerge! Yet again! (in case you are wondering - I only tried to bump this once and in fact that was 24 hours after teh first post!) |

Thanks Merk - it was driving me crazy!
I think Kirby's idea is very good and should be carried through to phrases and template caching too. Thanks again. |

Scott mentioned that system will be changed "in the future", so it probably wont make it for 3.5.

Templates can be cached in Hook cache_templates.
However, for Datastore there is no possiblity except File edits. (Note: Haven't looked at Beta 4 yet, so this might only be true for Beta 3 and below) |
