[latex][/latex] bbcode

Rip-off of http://www.vbulletin-germany.com/for...ad.php?t=17052

This bbcode creates images using LaTeX math expressions.

Installation
- Go to http://www.forkosh.com/mimetex.html
- Download mimetex, compile it and throw it into your cgi-bin folder, or try one of the pre-compiled versions. The Linux one didn't work for me, good luck.
- Test it out with www.yourforum.com/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi?x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}
- Add the bbcode

Replacement: <img src="http://www.yourforum.com/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi?{param}" />
Example: [latex]x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}[/latex]

I tried using the mimetex from his site and it banned me.

i downloaded " mimetex.zip " but there is no file named " mimetex.cgi " ???????

what shall i do ??

you have to follow the installation steps on that page to create the "mimetex.cgi" file

anyway, you need to have permission to compile cc, in order to create the .cgi file

i tried using his site:

I was using this on my forum before I upgraded to 3.5. I created a folder called mimetex, then unzipped the file. I then compiled the file useing the command line cc -DAA mimetex.c gifsave.c -lm -o mimetex.cgi

that creates the mimetex.cgi file which I put in my cgi-bin folder.

I try to execute the file with http://www.actuary.ca/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi?x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

and only get an internal server error.

Am I missing something???

Whoops, ignorance strikes again!!!!!!!!!!!

I started to think about this one for a second, and then I realized . . . The quick directions would be a lot quicker if it had "change the chmod of mimetex.cgi to executable" which only makes sence cause people have to execute it in order for it to work . . . . duh.
