If you have a modded version of 3.0 with some of the great mods you have here, then what does that mean in an upgrade to 3.5? Does the upgrade have a chance of not succeeding due to the database mods that have taken place?

Well... you rehack.. or plugins stay between 3.5.x > 3.5.x...

There is always a chance that you will run into issues with an upgrade, always.
