Show thread and post count in forumdisplay area?

Would someone be so kind as to tell me how to do this? I have a vb3b7 board, and would like to display the total threads and posts underneath the title of the forum in the forumdisplay template.

Example:
http://www.clangrounds.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3

Under the "Announcements" title for example. Thank you for any assistance rendered,

I've already tried $forum[threadcount] and $forum[replycount] as well, wish it was that simple.
