Default XHTML and the mods the people add here for vB3...

Why are the mods here not enforcing people to be XHTML compliant with their mods/hacks? vB3 is XHTML compliant, wouldn't it make sence that the hacks here should be too?

Offically, we do not force mods to be XHTML compliant. *However* if I notice a mod that is not xhtml compliant I will make a reply to the thread about it, and have been doing so scence beta 3 was released.

Also, I will add a new sticky thread to the vB 3 release forums to clear up a few of the questions going around.

*double post* - hate doing so but 56k is acting up and will not load editpost.php

Thought so, so we should only enforce it when the vB default templates become XHTML coded.

No, they should be now also. It gets everyone in practice for the final vb style.

Well, we can't tell people to practise. That is up to them. But, when XHTML templates comes they will have to include it.

It is a bit harder to force XHTML inclusion for template modifications. If you are very concerned with the XHTML compliance, then switching the template modifcations should be no problem, if you are also able to make such modifications. In most cases, it is not a large difference from HTML to XHTML, minus a few /> at the end (at least when it comes to standard tags such as the IMG tag).

I see no reason to force users to comply with something they may not know how to do. If they know how to do it, they can include it, if not, then I will leave it for others to do and submit.

We certainly cannot force anyone to submit with XHTML as that would greatly limit what is submitted here.

I would have to agree with you, I think 'force' is a bit harsh. Maybe just let them know that XHTML templates would be liked but if un-sure other people can translate it for them, or for their own forum. Works either way.
