Template Modification Help...
Okay, I've searched around these boards for about three hours trying to find something, but it seems I'll just have to ask...
I'm trying to achieve an image board around my forum, but only on the left and right. I've managed it via three columns, and the forum content in the center table, but alas, I must aply this to EVERY template, and I really don't think that's an efficient way. So far, I've managed it here: http://forums.goldenpie.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=8 The torn map edges are in their own tables, with the content in tehre center. Now, I'd like to do the same thing, but storing the start of the tables in the header, the forum content automaticlly fill into the middle table, and a close table tag in the footer. It should be a piece of cake, but I doubt that will be the case. Please help, any suggestions would be brilliant. |

I didn't ask for critisism on the forum, I asked for amethod on placing it more efficiently, if you'd simply taken the time to read the post.

Just copy the top section of your foumhome into your header. The section that creates that table. Or at least the left and middle cells. Then add the right cell in the footer. Then just in you templates, make sure it goes $header - middle cell content - then the footer. You will have to edit every full page template (forumhome, forumdisplay, showthread, etc) but it'll be alot simpler I think.
