can someone please tell me in easy lay mans terms how I would go about changing the default postbit icons into html links,if this can be done,any help appreciated

Do you want them to just be text links instead of buttons. Or do you want the existing buttons to link outside of the site like any old HTML link on a regular website?

Okay expand your postbit templates

Below you will see the postbits for each button:

postbit_profile [change original]
postbit_search [change original]
postbit_sendpm [change original]
postbit_signature [change original]
postbit_useremail [change original]
etc

Go to change original for each one.

your are going to end up with something like this for each one:

<a href="$post[homepage]" target="_blank">Homepage</a>

Here would be an example of the postbit_profile:

<a href="member.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=getinfo&userid=$post[userid]" target="_blank">Profile</a>

All you're doing is taking out the image tags and replacing them with text.
