Would it be possible to make a mod to sort threads by how recently/how early they were made rather than only by most recent post?

I have a question about this actually though... Is there any way to toss it into the drop down box rather than have it beside where it talks about thread starter etc? I'm asking because it's not the easiest place to see that "oh this is how I change the order" (vB 3.0.7) -- Anyways the hack works well for me as far as intention, thanks for the help
