I want to email members if they haven't visited the site within a week or two. Is their a way to do this?

Yes, you could code a cron job to run through the users and send an email to those whose lastactivity timestamp is older than whatever timespan you select.

There is no hack needed for that.

AdminCP->Users->Send Email to Users

I wasn't very clear - I actually weant to send the 'activation email' to all those that haven't yet confirmed their registration.

Like i said you can use the Send Email function for that.
