Hint: you'll need a huge member base to even think of getting orders, and it won't be a reliable source of income, or likely not even enough to cover hosting. It's more of a promotional than financial tools.

My website has a targeted audience explicitly for fisherman in Pennsylvania. I decided to make small windows stickers. Small enough that it would not turn people away from placing a sticker on their vehicle (even I'm picky about that stuff) but just large enough that it will be seen. It's a pretty basic thing but it looks pretty good.
I did the design and ordered 1000 of them from gotprint.com for about 60 bucks. I give them away for free and pay the postage for anyone wanting them and the response has been VERY impressive. Most people asking request anywhere from 4 to 10 so they can give them to their friends. My users are very supportive and try to help wherever they can. They've even setup a "jamboree" for people on the site so everyone can meet eachother and go fishing. The response has been pretty good so far too. My site's been up for 3 1/2 months and I just got my 204th member. I've had a nice push of new users lately and I know this has somethig to do with it. Troy |

Yes but that's a freebie People aren't as keen to wear logos of their favorite sites on their t-shirt as they are to stick an inconspicous sticker in their car

i suggest you sign up for an account at cafepress. everything is explained there. you set your profit margin. for example, cafepress states that there cost to produce a mug for you is $1.00. well, you will have the option to add whatever additional margin, either dollar amount or percentage.
so, as stated by someone earlier, the margin is up to you. you can charge no margin and list the mug for $1.00 which goes directly to cafepress and you get nothing. cafepress does all the sourcing, production, shipping and packaging. |
