I'm making this poll because Im airing a new idea that would increase the actual integration of the RPG hack into the forum.
Basically for the 3rd eta in my sig I am planning to make Class change impossible without deleting and re-creating your character, and I had some ideas to make the default classes more integrated in the sense of your choice of class having some importance as to how the hack is played.
For instance, Merc classes would require a salary from any Clan that wish to hire them. Gambler classes would have a slight increase in chance of winning the lottery. Thief classes would have an option to attempt to rob the bank.
Et cetera. I have some design notes on this, just not with me atm.
But. If I am to implement this, I would have to remove the possibility of creating a new Class. You would still be able to rename the classes, disable them (instead of delete, same effect only they would still exist in the DB), change their stats.
Reasons why I would have to do this are; because I can only see a way of coding this that would require me to know the class IDs, and because user created classes would only be able to select the special properties from default classes, not create their own (unless they knew how to code it).
If you choose the 3rd option in the poll, please throw me some bones as to how this can be done.
If my explanation was suckier than usual, feel free to ask before casting a vote.
TIA

I don't like the advanced integration bacause i don't use the default characters in rpg.
Making the advanced integation means that the rpg hack will make only this type of classes.
I use monsters now (no gambler o mercs).
I like much better the possibility to make new types of classes (it means new rpg type)!
I would of course add the option of disabling a certain class' integration - after all Im not trying to force anything on you. You would be able to change the sprites/names/stats, so unless you need to add more monsters than the number of default characters, no problem
I like the idea of special abilities for different classes, but not the idea of losing my custom classes. I haven't fully developed my RPG yet due to the long process of image creation, but my RPG is based on real-life characters. So if I were unable to create these classes and my own characters, I personally would lose interest in the RPG. So my vote will go for the nay. But...
A suggestion for the 3rd answer... why not use this post to get ideas for what functions/abilities classes should have (maybe not just the classes created w/ the install but ideas for custom classes too) then take the most popular ideas (as I'm sure you'd get alot) and create them as selectable options for class abilities. And then those classes created with the install, have their abilities un-editable and also have the option of disabling that whole class. That way classes created with the install will have their abilities, and those who wish to have custom classes can choose abilites if wanted. Sure you won't please everyone, but atleast in my opinion you'll be able to please the majority.

Well as I stated above, you would be able to rename all the default classes, their sprites, stats, everything. Also you would be able to disable their advanced integration.
So unless youd need more than the 32 (IIRC) characters for each sex, there shouldnt be a problem.

That would be a good idea, though I doubt people would get their eyes up about this thread just because of that.
What I could do is set a master switch, IE offer the option of either use this old system (free exchange/adding of classes, but replacing Delete with Disable), or the new system. Then I could offer to code an advanced integration for users per request (and, if I feel I can do it, for a small fee. $5 or so), enabling them to use their advanced integration. I could also make a plugin system similar to the upcoming vB3.5, and allow the import/export of plugin code and DB entries so that people could code and share their own advanced integration scripts.

How does this sound?
Well what i understood, it sounds good, offers both possibilities with the install. The part i don't follow is the 'advanced integration'. I don't know exactly what you mean by that. And towards the character limit, i have a current count of 58 characters for one class and 36 for another, and those numbers will increase once i have the images drawn up for those 94 characters. But if there's a switch to keep the old system, it all sounds good to me.
Also to get this thread recognized, just put the link in the current RPG hack thread.
Well I can't really explain it much better than what I did in the first post of this thread. It is making classes more integrated with the forum, and making your class choice have other impacts on how the RPG hack plays.
