automatic delete of pm after read

sorry for double post - pls delete my other post in vb2 (meant to post here)

I want to send out a pm to a bunch of users that I would like to automatically delete after the users read it or after a certain period of time - is there a way to run a querry or a script that will do that? or that i can manually prune it?
