- v3 Articles Of "John"
> Unsupported, buggy, a security problem, out of date.

- vB Journal Of "AN-net"
> I don't see a real reason to make-do with a journal system in place of an article system when you have two great ones available.

- cinq's vbArticles Of "Cinq".
- Geek Article System Of "The Geek".
> Fully supported, fully up to date, very well made and robust.
> vBArticles is more of a "standalone system".
> Geek Articles are entered as threads into your database - so you have all the benifits of thread management etc. along with many article features.

I clicked Geek Articles, out of preference and the points above.

If you ask me, cinq's is the best, because it runs on a seporate table.

Different strokes for different folks

Why have more than 1 kind of Ford? (heck - why have any now I think of it!) - because the different systems work for different needs.

Personally - I havent used any other but me own (though I did test v3articles to write the import script).
The biggest difference between Cinq's version and mine is our implementation. His is to create an article system that stood alone but linked into vb3. Mine was to create a system that was integrated so that it ran totally off vB3 and so it would integrate with the forums (like searching and such).

I think Cinq has done a great job and Im pretty chuffed with the job I have done. Once again I think it just comes down to the implimentation and how you want to use the system.

I'd like to vote the original (John's) as its the only one which allows captions against images. The fact you can't edit these after upload, nor re-order them, means I can't use it though.

As soon as one of the other systems allows this, that'll be the one i use!

Of those choices listed, I'd have to go with Nail Geek's system. I prefer any type of articles be searchable by the user when they're using the vB search functions so by using a forum to drive the articles solves that problem nicely.

Both Geeks and cinq's systems offer a lot of features and should do the job for most people but my deciding factor went with the searchability of the articles in Geek's method.

Note: If you're vBa CMPS user there is also another option available for you.... the CMPS Articles Module by Tom M (not sure if he gave it actual name or not ). It's a pretty basic system but if somebody is using CMPS and needs a quick & dirty articles system that is also based upon the forums then it's worth looking into.

How SEO friendly are these? I really want to write some well crafted and thought out articles for my site, but I also want them to come up on the search engine's if possible. In the world of SEO as you know, writing and submitting articles is highly recommended. Vb3 is already pretty good at getting messages spidered and I'm guessing either of these would be the same.

Any thoughts or comments on this? Much appreciated.

Thanks.
