Default Geek Article System

Hey i guess maybe a question for the geek but i think others may be able to do it too.
Basically im wondering how difficult it would be to add a field to the sytem.
Id liek a director field and an imdb field. (for obvious reasons)
would a tutorial on how to add fields be too difficult to do?

do you have access to phpMyAdmin?
The easiest way to do what you are wanting is to add 2 more columns to the geek_articles table.
You would then need to follow the logic through to assure that
1- the GAS_article_options had input boxes for those fields
2- that the modifications in editpost and newthread passed the contents of those input boxes to their relative functions (think its gas_edit_article and gas_add_article - but dont quote me - thats off the top of my head!)

It really wouldnt take more than about 15 miutes for you to do.

HTH's!

sorry to jump on this thread but its basically about the same thing anyway

TheGeek - you know how u have the attachments listed to the right of the screen in an article with the rating button - is it possible to have this at the bottom of the screen instead - going across ways - would look a lot better for when i add pics so the text above can use the full width then.

Are you wanting it to look the same layout as a standard post? You can turn off the sidebar but of course you would lose your attachments (though that isnt that hard to change).

so like a bottom bar?

I started to play about with this - but the ratings and article tools looks lame like that. It would really require the ratings and article tools to go away (maybe back where they came from) and then add the attachments to the butt of the article
