New Idea: Forum Archive on CD
I don't think this has been done before, but I've got this idea, and I'd like to see if it's workable...
I'd like to find a way to preserve archives by transferring sections of it to a stand-alone CD that could be popped into a drive and surfed and searched through as though the user was on the site. I could then offer the archives to community members for their own files as sort of site memorabilia. Is there a way to do this? It would be great to preserve these posts before they get pruned, and given back to the community for posterity... |

That would need a lot of coding i think. Since the archive is also pulled from the DB, you will need to create some kind of static (non-database) version of all pages. It would also be impossible to check for permissions then.

So it's pretty much impossible? |

Old Idea.....
Anyway, always possible, I believe there are some programs that would let you do it, But it would be quite abit of time and effort. |

If vbulletin Archives was modified to include links to attachments, WebWhacker or a similar program could create the files for burning to CD.
