A Wish...
I wish that Jellsoft would recognize the contributions made by several of the major hacks that really make our bb's informative and useful for our membership by purchasing those hacks and integrating them into a "premium" vbulletin product. I'd be willing to pay beyond the $180 for vBulletin to purchase a package that already has a portal system (CMPS), a chat room program (vBchat), an image gallery (Gallery), a store or product sales program, a reviews and classifieds section (like those offered by Photopost). I have integrated each of these sections into each of my three sites in order to add the functionality that I think my members are looking for. But it sure is a pain to have to redo all the hacks after a vBulletin upgrade. That is why I'd be willing to pay more for a "premium" package that has all these hacks (or features) already built in when an upgrade is done.
Just a thought. :nervous: |

You will never see jelsoft include the codes of others in their source unless these people where to become dev's, at least imho. Overgrows karma code from v2 was added to v3 but it was re-writtin, same gose for all other 'hacks' that became stock fetures.
Your best bet is to head over to vBulletin.com and request these fetures get included in a future version BTW, where abouts in NC are you located? It nice to see someone else from my home state on here |

Hi Brad.loo. I'm based in Raleigh, NC. Do you still live in NC? I've lived here all my life and although I've traveled the world (just got back from Kenya) I can't imagine living anywhere else.

It was only the concept, the developer who added it in never actually saw the karma code. |

That's not true, otherwise they wouldn't have purchased rights to use it.

Forgot to include an good articles system (like Cinq's that I've put on two of my sites). It is a great add on and he did a super job with it.

vB will write their own code - why pay someone else a license or worry about copyright when they can probably write their own code that's more integrated - especially with the new version coming out which is incompatible with current hacks.

The point I was trying to make in the original post is that (as a businessman) I don't understand why Jelsoft doesn't take the opportunity to create a higher end product that integrates a number of the features users obviously want because they are willing to struggle through implementing hacks in order to provide them on their sites. I for one would be happy to pay more money for an integrated suite of features for a site built around a MySQL forum program like vB that I don't have to hack to make work. Supply, demand thing. That's all.
