Well, your best bet would be to start with fresh files.

There is no way to fix it without starting over?

well now the error is that it can't connect to the database

i would just upload new 3.0.7 files and then reinstall the hack, you wouldn't lose your data, just remember to not upload the install.php and config.php page

well from the error either your MySQL server is down or the config file is incorrect.
