Is there any particular reason as to why only the author of the modification ( the one who posted the modification ) can see this, and not anyone else who goes into the modification release thread ?

To save on resources possibly, who knows. I can't see it being that much of a heavy query though..

Actually, I'd put money on privacy purposes..

yup it's for privacy issues, to protect an installee against any exploits that the mod might have.

how bout this why would you want to know what other people install on their message boards? I dont even if i want to make better boards then other people i would make it better then what they have.

*nods* Imagine if everyone could see (for example) tht others had installed the loginlog hack...nobody would ever register at those sites...

*edit* A 'show who has viewed this thread' addition (for staff only) would probably be a good suggestion for use in tracking people who have read the thread, not "installed" it, but gone off and done something dodgy with it.
