'application/force-download' question
I'm ok when using this for local file, but I want to know if it is possible to use application/force-download for remote file, and if you know how please help.
This is use to download media file like mp3, wma, wmv or any kinds. without force-download the player will be opened and play that file, but force-download it will promt a save dialog. Thanks in advance. |

You can't force a user to download a file AFAIK. Most browsers let you choose what to do with these files so no matter what you do I doubt you can over-ride the users default setting

did you mean I can't override ?
if no please show me the way. Firefox will always promt but IE doens't. as I've mentioned above, I can force for a 'save as' dialog if the file is in local server but I still can't figure out how to do it with a remote one. |

Firefox will always prompt by default, but the user can over-ride these settings in the browser; meaning server-side there is nothing you can do

Well, the only way to change the mime type of a file on a server outside your control would be to pipe it through your server, but that would mean that all files so piped would use your server's download and upload bandwidth, so this is generally not a good idea.
