Attachments without uploading

I originally posted on vbulletin.com as I wasnt sure if it was possible without a mod or not.. But it seems like its gonna require a mod ..

The purpose of this is to prevent guests being able to download the files, you would have to be logged in to see/download the attachment..

What I need is a mod that is only accessible by admin... That allows me to choose a file in the attachment directory on the webserver.. The mod will then add a record to the attachments table in the db, recording file size, name etc of the selected file. Basically its adding an attachment to the forums without the upload part.

I did have a quick search of these forums, but couldnt seem to find anything similar..

Any help is appreciated....
