How do I recreate the admin account w/out dumping the database? (and IMPEX issues)
I have a problem with my admin account. I tried importing data from my forums database to my test forum and in the process I somehow deleted my admin account, or the password or something because when I try to login it won't let me, and when I request my password via e-mail it tells me that the e-mail address doesn't exist in the database. I went to reinstall the forum software, and it only gave me the option to proceed (which gave me an error on the first table since it was already there) or upgrade, which required me to enter my password, which it didn't recognize, etc.. The only other option is to dump my existing database, which I don't want to do. Is there any other way via sql commands in phpMyadmin to add an admin account? I realize that I am probably painted in to a corner due to the security issues surrounding what I want to do, but I just want to be able to save all of the template changes that I have done to my test forum.
On a bigger/related issue: if I hack up my test board, and then delete the test posts, etc. and then import the data from another database should that be a problem? Does the impex import over the templates that I created in my test forum? If so, then that may be my issue here... if not - how do I integrate my live forum in to my test forum once all of the changes are in place, etc? (because it didn't work for me earlier tonight - I ended up with "database error" pages in my admin cp after the import). I imported to a fresh database before, but this was my first attempt at trying to add an existing database to one that I had already installed vb and hacked up. any help/ideas/input would be appreciated. |
