Question about vB.org's Postbit

I want to do something similar for just one forum on my site, involving computer modifications and such. Is vB.org's postbit a hack or just a template edit? My end goal is to have required fileds in the post bit, set aside from the normal textbox.

So I guess my question is, is this a hack that was released?

Profile fields can easily be displayed in the postbit by using $post[fieldX]

That's a template edit and doesn't have anything to do with modifying the php files.

Basically I want the first post of each thread in that forum to resemble the way the hacks are presented here, but not for the same purpose. What you're saying is that this can be done with a template edit? If so, which template is it that needs to be edited?

This is very close to what I'd like to achieve, obviously with my own site style.

Unfortunately, the code used to do our modifications database is custom to vBulletin.org. Stefan (Xenon) did say he might release it one day but due to his busy schedule he said it won't be for a long while yet.

this will display the first post of a thread on each page of the thread.

first post conditionals - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=67365
this will allow you to change the style of the first post, also can be used to only generate the different style in a particular forum(s)
