Default 2 domains, 2 vb licenses, 1 database

Hello,

i have looked through all threads in the last 2 years and many people had been requesting this. Some people promised to come back with a hack and they never did.

Other people tried to help out with adding new table prefixes which is not the right solution and other people tried to solve this with IP settings instead of domain names.

All these offerings are brain storming but not helping the people to find their required solution.

So my question is: Is it possible to have 2 domains, on the same physical server accessing the same database and using the same forum and user database?

It shouldn't be a problem to implement a solution to change the style and the logo according to the requested domain name but the problem i see here is, the cookie.

Has anyone done this and got this working? Please no promises that someone will look into this. This has been promised for the last 2 years ( after reading 13242123521 threads ).

If no one can help here, i will have to look for a non-vb solution just using the same user database table which i would like to avoid.

Any feedback is welcome.

Cheers,

are you trying to just share a select few database tables, or the entire database?

Hello,

the optimum configuration would be to have 2 forums and one user table with 2 different domains. So each domain has one user table but each domain has its own forum. If any new user registers on any of these 2 domains, they will get access to both domains.

If this is not possible, i could live with 1 forum, 1 user table but 2 domains.

So you have a solution for this? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

And the next question is, if i use the same smilies? If i am looking for the same forum, this should include the same posts. I thought that was clear.
