Default UK Web Hosting Help

hi all,

I've finally decided to buy my very first website (the current one I share with my dad)

But I need some help picking out a good web host, as I've heard it's better to go by what people say then what the company says

I had my eye on eUKhost before, but I've heard a few (sorry, alot) of negative reviews

Could you guys suggest a few good UK based web hosts, with a decent: service, support, pricing and repuatation, just a company you feel happy with really

Like I say this is going to be the first website that I don't share with anyone else, so sorry if I missed anything out

Any and all help at all would be appreciated, thank you

First of all DO NOT GO WITH EUKHOST they are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with, and you can find a lot more info at forums like www.forum2.co.uk and I'm sure if you do a Google for them it will bring up a lot more.

I have a reseller package with www.hostroute.co.uk I must say they have the best customer support and response time I have found from any host, and they arn't expensive

Also if your not bothered about having the servers hosted in the US try hostroute.com (same company) with the exchange rate it's almost half the price.

Thanks very much for the replys guys,

Believe it or not but forum2.co.uk was the place I heard such bad things about eukhost in this thread, after page 2, it gets pretty worrying)

And thanks for the tip about hosting with a US based webhost, to be honest the only reason I didn't go into it is because I have no idea about exchanging the currency to dollar, I'm kind of embaressed to ask but how would I go about that?

Please bear with me guys, you've helped me out no end so far :nervous:

You can get a solo card from your bank and set up a paypal account to pay the fees normally You just withdraw the funds into your paypal account, and then you can convert it between several currencies.

My site's hosted state-side even though it's aimed at an audience of a European country - nobody seems to mind.

Hi

I was with EUKHost for 10 months but never again. I've moved to http://www.webfusion.com/ and the service is 100% better!

Credit Cards can be used in any country... all that happens is they translate the charge (eg USD$) into your base currency before putting it on yourt statement. They may also charge a small fee for conversion (about £1).
