OK, we have one hack from magnus here, only problem is that he has ditched the hack, it has bugs, and the features are far from what a real quote management system needs. Therefore I feel it is time for a second request. I believe that kind of hack would ve very appreciated by many members. Suggested features:

Turn the quote bar on/off in admincp
Random quote display on forumhome
Quote listing page with ability to sort by rating, name, author, etc.
Group Permissions (add/edit/delete/auto-accept)
Seach quotes
The ability to rate quotes
Top x rated quotes
Top x viewed quotes
Ability to moderate quotes from members

PS: That is a very 'big' hack, so we need someone experienced here. If you please

This is really discouraging to me

-- I TOTALLY understand that programmers need to get paid like everyone else, but there was a time here when a lot of people shared in the spirit of better communities for themselves and for others running VB.

"Back in the day" a request like this would have been jumped on. I would certainly offer to help if I had the knowledge to do something like this, or help in doing it. Are we losing the open-source sharing attitude of the old VB days?

I think your idea is a good one. It reminds me of the shoutbox. Could a shoutbox mod be modified further to accommodate this?
