this might be a silly question - and I appologise if it is - but is there a global place where I can change the default "home page" of the forum from index.php to forum.php maybe?

Or do I have to search through all the files replacing index with forum??

Don't quote me but you should be able to do this in the AdminCP from the vBulletin Options

you can set the name in the vBulletin Options in your admincp. You'll have to change the filename manually though.
