Reply to Announcements

I found a thread mentioning the ability to make announcements that can be replied by the boards users; however, it seems quite dated.

Is there a way in vB 3.0.3 to set your announcements to make is where the users can reply to them?

I realize this is kind of old, but I second this. Maybe just something as simple as a "comments" feature. I'd find it very useful, because I am now moving away from announcements in favor of a dedicated "news and updates" forum simply because I cannot get user feedback with an announcement.
