Sub Forum Hack
I've been asked by the host of my site (collegefanatics.com) to look for a message board system that offer better performance. I currently am using phpBB and have had a great deal of success on tweaking the system for my and my users benefit. The main hack that I will, without a doubt, require is the ability to offer individual templates/styles for individual boards. I currently have around 125 boards and the idea is to have around 120 different looks. IS this possible, and if so can you point me to the right documentation? I have around 800 members who are making about 560 posts/day. This is generally not a problem, but on Saturdays we probably have 1500 or so posts.
I'm also going to need to some help converting the db from phpBB to vB. I know that there is a conversion utility, but if you could just point it out to me I'd be much obliged. Thanks! |

for the conversion, see here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92
also, there is no real statistics to compare between phpBB and vB, but i can tell, as a former developper of phpBB that there is a lot of differences in performance between the two. vB is 30% faster and more resource safe than phpBB/IPB... also... you can apply styles per forum on vB... but you need to follow the licensing protocol to have multiple forums ... http://www.vbulletin.com/faqsales.php |

hum... you were talking about your 125 boards, with different styles... if you just talk about a single board with multiple forums, that's ok...

Thanks for all your help. I just need to see some more documentation and then I'm ready to sign up.
