very new to VB and i need some basic answers please
i am currently running a forum via Ezboard which pretty much sucks. i am thinking about setting up a VB board. i dont really have much experience with mySQL, php, etc. i went through the manual and im sure i could get VB running myself, my main question is just how many databases will i need to run VB? im going to need a new host and i dont want to set one up only to find out i didnt get enough database "space". i have not purchased VB yet but im pretty sure i will be very soon once i get a server that can handle mySQL. thanks!

Hey Paintbug .. I was at your spot a year ago, and I bought a Leased licance, and then after the year I paid the full price for the owned licance. Here is some info I could tell you ..
EZBoards in my eyes suck so yaeh you have come to the right place. As for how many databases you need, you only need 1. You can make them usauly with your hosts cpanel you get when you get hosting. As for your new host, it depends on how big your board is. I belive there are converters, so you most likey can convert your ezboard to vB. If you have a small-medium sized bored, don't go crazy and get a dedicated server any pay 100s of dollars a month. I am really in beta making of my board and have the Gold plan over at F5-Hosting.com .. and it works fine. I am guessing you will open your board to the public soon and be different then me, so hostings your own choice. Hope any of this helps, and if you want to any time you can reply or PM me. - TheLegendofLink.com |

Hiya. Im looking to move over to vB from my invision board.
(real.. not invisionfree) But althoguh i manage on mysql and edits and php.. I need to know. What are the server requirements for vB? How many sql databases will I need? Also. When I buy it, do I get to download mods and skins from vB sites? And after A year if I do NOT pay.. do I still get: a] Support? b] Mod downloads |

@PowerKid... please start your own thread on the forum instead of inserting non-related questions on others... this is descent polite acts..
btw, requirements for vB are the same as IPB, and there is an existing import script for IPB to vB... |
