Since we started allowing mp3 uploads of users material, the size of our database has been ballooning out of control. Anybody got any ideas? Maybe a way to automatically expire attachments after say, 1 month or even a way to split it so that there is a separate one just for attachments? Our database is now nearly 2 giga in size and is really becoming a big headache. I'd love to be able to trim it down while continuing to allow uploads.

VB3 lets you store attachments in the file system instead of the database. You can find the option somewhere in the admincp.
With a DB of that size though, I would deffinitely back it up first and maybe even shut down the board while you do it just to minimize any chance of errors or issues. |
