i'd like to see if there is existing scripts that do the job to detect the connection speed of a visitor, so the board can detect the speed of all visitors and set preferences for each depending on connection...
i have one script, in javascript, but it's not working properly... |

You can try a ping, that would give you some idea of the users connection speed.
There's an example here --> http://www.php.net/sockets in the usernotes, though it's currently down (it should be back up shortly) |

ya, but as i'm a complete noob in php (pfffft) i don't know how to build such a tool with basic features of PHP... i'm really dumb... i'd like someone to help on this... i can't spare 3 weeks figuring it out...
