has anyone had this problem before?

on my forum, many times someone will have opened every "new" thread in a forum and it will still say there are new posts in that forum. on the otherhand there will actually be new posts in a forum but it will tell the user that there aren't any

could this be a cookies problem or a server software glitch ?

any help would be greatly appreciated

it's vBulletin's horrible mark read code. it needs to be fixed.
