Disable smilies, user setting

Is it possible for a user to disable viewing smilies (in threads) and disable the use of it?

If standard no; is here someone who already has made this or want to made it?

I realize this is the vb2 forum, but if you're looking for a vb3 hack this one might be what you're looking for.
