I've done a search for this, but can't find this anywhere for 3.x.

I want to exclude certain forums from incrementing the total threads count. Does anybody know how this can be achieved?

There is an option for this when you create/edit a forum.

Yes, I've seen this option (Count posts made in this forum towards user post counts) but it doesn't seem to work. The total count still gets incremented as I believe that option just stops the users post count from increasing.
