How to gain members and get them to post?

We've been up for about 5-6 weeks now and have 131 registered users. However, my board may only get 3-5 posts per day and on some days even less. Someone is always on, but barely post.

I know if a lot members post and stuff, then when guests come in and see fresh posts with some members online, their more likely to join and post.

But when they come in and see "0" users online with posts from a few days ago, and stuff their more than likely not going to post anything.

I was just hopin you guys can give me some Ideals and tips on how to gain new members and how to get them to post. Or how you guys did and so on.

Our site has been up for nearly 5 weeks and we're getting anywhere from 150-200 unique visitors per day. So its not like we're getting 5 or 6 unique per day.

Any suggestions or help would be awsome and I will owe you big time! If someone can even help get me started I would be willing to do a little advertising for someone. Just a tought if you would like to give a lending hand

Start posting yourself. Make up new topics to get people's attentions. Make sure they can't reply without registering.

LOL...but I do that, I have more posts myself than all the members combined lol. Well not that many, but you get the point. I have almost 400 the next few members below me have like around 50 or so. Then from their, the rest of the 100+ only have like 10 or less. hmmm......confusing I guess.

my suggestion is to add ushop , people always post more when they know they will be rewarded
i don't have nowhere near as many visitors as yourself however they are always posting coz of this one new addition
just a quick fix suggestion on my behalf
as you could argue that its gimmicky but hey it worked for me

also i notice you have a vbgarage u could set it so that the garage has to be bort via the store

Yeah, but I'm looking for something that won't cost as much as giving stuff away. I'm looking for a job right now myself. lol

Hmm......I'm not sure what the secret is. Some mustang sites have 20 members joining everyday, even their first day. Yet, their design doesn't really look all that appealing to me.

Yeah, but don't you like have to have prizes and stuff to give away when the users get so many points, etc?

Plus, down the road if we do get like 10K members or something with hundreds online. I wouldn't want to mess with that kind of a system. I think it would be to confusing. JMO though.

You don't allways have to have physical prizes to give away. You could allways add stuff like the glowing username or add the arcade and sell passes. Just a thought though!

I changed my guest message that they view when they first enter my forums. Now it looks a little more friendly.
