mod_rewrite for vB3
Hi all -
I'm looking to rewrite my dynamic vB3 pages to static HTML. This isn't a field I know a great deal about in terms of technical application, but I am very much under the impression that the vB3 code itself needs some tweaking to work with mod_rewrite. I'd therefore like to ask whether anyone has a hack in place for implementing this, or whether anyone wishes to pick up a high-kudos gauntlet and develop one? Many thanks, Brian |

I've also noticed that the Google toolbar almost never displays a PR value for forum threads and topics while dynamic, but will when mod_rewrite is used to render to static HTML pages. Although it's impossible to make a statement of how that relates for ranking purposes, I think it does hint at a very real issue to be considered. Therefore for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) purposes, I sincerely believe that there still remain advantages to using a full mod_rewrite option on the main vBulletin boards. Of course, I could always try and mess with the presentation of the HTML archive bundled with vB3 - but I would rather optimise my main presented forum content. |

I actually applied the mod_rewrite, then reverted back to dynamic and using the static archive.

Hey there fellas. I just want to give you an update on the DaniWeb mod_rewrite hack - I've updated it to what DaniWeb is currently using, in a whole new tutorial. There is support for multiple pages, Who's Online (no more Unknown locations!), previous / next threads, linear / hybrid / threaded modes, and much more! Enjoy
