Regarding hotlinking
Hi!
I've discovered some sites hotlinking to my avatars for directly use on their sites... I once tried the avatar/attachment hotlinking protection hack, but this affected most of MY users too, since they were using firewalls or similar stuff at work and the result was no avatars were displaying... Is there any thing I can do to prevent hotlinking to images as attachments on my site, and the avatars itself? Thanks! Ps. I'm on Ensim Pro cpanel, and it takes somehow control of the .conf files for apache... |

I'm number one, so why try harder?
(sorry) here, I've not tried it myself, but this link might be able to help you, it gives information on how to edit your .htaccess file to stop people from stealing your bandwidth: http://altlab.com/htaccess_tutorial.html Hope it helps. |

I'm still having problems.
I'm using htmlbasix.com hotlink test script just to find out I've successfully managed to enable hotlinking protection on FILES linkage, like: http://domain.com/forums/avatars/filename.gif BUT if you test URL: http://domain.com/forums/avatar.php?...ine=1057686467 you CAN STILL see the image, which is my main problem (users stealing bandwith by linking to my avatars on other forums) which means hotlinking with htaccess does not work for SQL calls! Any other tip? Thnks! |
