Lets say I was reluctanct to upgrade to vbulletin 3.
Ok lets say that I cant decide wether to upgrade to vbulletin 3 or not and all my vbulletin friends are saying "you must do it, it is the smart choice." What would you guys say to me to convince me to upgrade?

I would never upgrade anything without simulating it first on another platform.
In otherwords, install a vB3 board on your localhost, test it, and see how you like it. Of course wait until vB3 Gamma or RC are released. There should be enough evidence floating amongst vBulletin.org and vBulletin.com within the past year to show you why vBulletin 3 is the obvious choice (security, modern code, features, etc). You should decide hands on, though. |

Unfortunatley for me I dont have a test board or a localhost, so once I install it I cant go back. I will have to take the risk I suppose.

Don't upgrade then...
And besides, how things are going now, you have plenty of time to get a test platform |

hmm, as there is a bug preventing vb3 working on win98 localhosts (at least it didn't on three of my testservers) i wasn't able to run it on a localhost in the past, so i upgraded my own site directly to beta 3 and never got a problem.
ok, on vb.org we had a testboard long time, but there weren't much problems, so i'd really say, upgrade |
