Default Going halfs on a RackShack Server?

Would anyone be interested in doing this? Or letting me get some space on your current server? I've decided I'm not taking the ++++ from my current host anymore.

I'm thinking about getting a duel xeon pentium machine with 512 of ram, 73gb scsi drive, ensim pro.. etc. Might go up to 2 73gb hard drives and 1gb ram if needed. At the least I need a P4.

My current site is pushing about 2gb of transfer a day: http://midibuddy.net and I plan on reselling some space. I also have another forum I want to promote at http://johnsworld.com.

Anyone interested? I need to get this overwith soon. Check out these plans for the things I'm interested in getting: http://www.rackshack.net/english/xeon_series.asp

Can i suggest not going ensim nor plesk if possible.

if you want to go halfs, why not NOT get a Xeon and get one from the bargain bin, that way you'll be paying the same and it'll be all urs.

because I'm on a PIII dedicated with 384mb of ram now and it can't handle the load. The load is constantly around 1.

I have a couple sites that are already setup with ensim. It'd be a pain in the ass to transfer everything to cpanel.

Trust me when I say that upgrading Ensim is a female dog at the best of times...

Plus the fact that design wise it sucks...

IMO, either get one without a control panel (assuming you know how to control a server with commands only), or get one with Ensim Pro, as I have heard lots of good things about it...

Satan

I don't know enough about running a server to do it w/o a control panel. Plus, like I said, I want to resell some space, so I want to give clients a control panel. I would go Ensim Pro if anything.

I'm a guy who's experienced Plesk, cPanel and Ensim Pro...and Rackshack servers at that, lol. I've found that I keep going back to cPanel servers for their features, constant updates, and ease-of-use for both the customer and the server admin. Ensim Pro lacks updates, and if you want to be stuck with PHP 4.2.x for another few months, go with Ensim. Upgrading php manually on Ensim breaks something in it, I can't remember what it is anymore.

Plesk = bad...mmkay. No really, it's really bad...really really really bad.

It really depends on your skill level when it comes to server management, while in SSH, knowledge of linux, etc. and also what your control panel preferences are...

Mine pulls 3 gigs so I would say anything above a AMD Duron 1Ghz with 512+ MB RAM.
