Information before Purchase -
Probably heard these before.. but..
1. If I elect to do the professional installation that vbullentin offers after I purchase the product.. a. Will the web site interface work with that installation? b. I remember the php website interface actual had its own version of the boards and your old boards (phpbb) would not work with that interface. - when I asked the vbullentin team this question .. I got: I'm confused by your question. There is no 'vbulletin.org' interface available for you to install. vBulletin.org created their own style and they do not make this available for others to use. All the best, Steve Machol Support Team, vBulletin http://www.vbulletin.com/ mailto:support@vbulletin.com so either A - vbulletin.com rep is um.. confused.. or I am. or B - I buy the license.. download your website interface that has the vbulletin forums also and then transfer my community from ezBoards over to the new forums? |

there is no portal software included in vbulletin.
of course you can download one from here, but it's not written by jelsoft and therefor the professional installer won't install it on your board. |

portal software = keyword
thanks - Okay .... let me rephrase the question Does the portal software (Website interface) ....portal/inteface with "an installed version of vBulletin?" "latest version as if I was going to buy it tomorro. - in other words - if I have vbullentin installed (the forums only - vBullentin) - can I install portal software and does it work with the current forums? - or ..does the portal software come with its own version of vbulletin already hacked... to work with the portal software. The reason I ask is that the phpNuke versions for phpBB doesn't allow you to interface with boards that are already set up and thats a PITA. |

most vb-portals are compatible with the newest vb2 version, but you cannot say 100%
yes, you can isntall a portal over an already installed vbuleltin and you won't loose data with it no, no portal comes with it's own vbulletin version |

Thank you Stefan!
- those are the answers I was looking for... currently we support over 200,000 lurkerz and around 20k registered members and didn't want to merge the ezboard forums over and lose any data after the vbulletin installation and transfer of data was completed... I know .. I know.. BACK UP! Thank you! |
