ok two things really, the first would be what's the .htaccess comands to not allow hotlinking but the second would be what's the .htaccess comands to not allow saving (seen a few places that if you try to save it only allows you to save as bitmap and what not) is that possible via htaccess?

Google has a bunch of free tutorials on preventing hotlinking that provide examples. Cpanel and plesk have this built in I thought.

For the saving we have used a free java script we found that prevents right clicking.

Thats pointless and anoying. Its so easy to bypass its not worth having.

yep as ntldr said, it's pointless and annoying, hence why i was looking for the bmp thing

Unfortunately you cannot prevent this - Even as a .bmp, you can copy it into photoshop and output it as a .gif or .jpg...

However, hotlinking is easy - Erwin posted a link to it recently I believe

yeah but as most of my smilies are animated, only allowing em to save as bmp would only allow em the first frame so they've be f++++ed really

Not hard to fish it out of IE's (or another browsers) Cache though. That does require some knowlage though
