Default hide a forum from 'new posts' search?

ok, I don't own a license but I'm doing some work on a site that does. I want to write our own 'News Hack' I've already got it setup we've got a hidden forum called 'news' and only the mods and admins can post there and the news is displayed on the front page. However, when a user goes to 'view new posts' they can see things posted in the news forum we'd like to keep that seperate. Is there anyway I can hide these posts from the 'new posts' area?

eurospeed,

You are currently showing up as unlicensed. To be able to download hacks and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please have the license owner click here (vB-germany users click here) and enter your email address, to show us that you are licensed.

He will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email he got when he paid for his license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive.

Thank you.

Well... I also need this hack. Added to that, I would like to hide the posts on the forum from searches. Didn't want to just start a new topic over it since I found this one using the search feature.

My reason is a little different.. on one of my VB's, I created a new usergroup for adult members that wanted to post adult related threads, out of the site of the kiddies and members of the community that aren't into that. The permissions are set to where only the new usergroup can access that particular forum. I found info here on how to hide the forums posts from Whose Online, but not from the View New Posts, Today's Active Topics or from those doing a search by member.

Any help with that would be appreciated. Some of the topic titles on that new board are pretty graphic and I REALLY need to hide them completely from the others.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Private Forum works fine, restricted viewing is OK, but new threads are showing up at the New Post search and in other places. Regular members get a message that they are "Not allow to read..." and get ticked off that it's even showing...

Right now the membership is getting upset at seeing the new posts and then not being able to read them... like a conspiracy is brewing..

I went through looking for it, but can't find it... went over to vbull.com an they referred me to .org for a hack?
thanx
