Email Obfuscation Hack · **Released**: 06-17-2003

This hack encodes email addresses posted on your forums using the [email] bbcode, to prevent email harvesters from obtaining them.

Client browsers then decode the addresses using JavaScript. Most email harvesters do not have JavaScript capabilities.

Tested on 2.3.0 RC3 and 2.3.2

obfuscate - To make so confused or opaque as to be difficult to perceive or understand

Basically, it encodes the email addresses so spam bots can't steal them
